TORAH LISHMAN HIGH SCHOOL
Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton is proud to announce the opening of Torah Lishmah: Continuing Our Jewish Education. This newly developed high school curriculum will engage and stimulate our students who are drawn from all over the South Shore Jewish community. The program, which begins in late October after Sukkot, is open to post-B’nai Mitzvah through high school-aged students.
The academic year will be divided into two nine-week semesters. Students will spend one week studying on-site at Temple Beth Emunah and alternating the following week to an off-site facility with a social action learning experience. On-site classes will include topics such as the Theology of the Conservative Movement, Issues Confronting Jewish Teens, Poverty through the Jewish Lens, Comparative Religions, What Must God Think…, and the Power of the Internet as it relates to Jewish Life.
We are pleased to be partnering with TELEM, an innovative program for Boston-area Jewish teens that integrates community service, learning, and reflection—and provides opportunities for them to affect real change. TELEM is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston and the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston. In addition to helping others, our students will learn about values that have guided Jews for thousands of years as well as gain understanding of how one can work for change.
Classes will begin each evening with dinner and an informal weekly discussion topic at 6PM, followed by two classes taught by our outstanding professional staff and family educators.
For more information about how to best educate your teen within the South Shore Jewish community, please contact Temple Beth Emunah at 508-583-5810 and request an application.
